U.S. Olympic Trials for Archery Scheduled for June 1-3 in Colorado Springs   Colorado Springs, CO – Fittingly, the Final Nomination Shoot for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Archery will take place just miles from USA Archery’s national headquarters and the U.S. Olympic Training Center, on June 1-3.  The top sixteen Olympic hopefuls – eight men and eight women – will compete at The Grace Center, 1655 Pirate Heights, Colorado Springs, CO 80907.   Colorado Springs Sports Hall Of Fame Class of 2012 Honors Olympic, Air Force, Collegiate, International & Prep Legends May 9, 2012 The Colorado Springs Sports Corporation has announced the Class of 2012 for the annual Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony, set for October 30 at the Colorado Springs World Arena. Duane Goldman   One of the best high school wrestlers in Colorado history, he won two state championships at Cheyenne Mountain High in 1979 and 1981, compiling an 85-2 record over three varsity seasons. He joined the powerful NCAA program at the University of Iowa in 1982 and won four straight Big Ten titles, recorded three NCAA second-place finishes, and won the 1986 NCAA championship at 191 pounds for the Hawkeyes, who also won four NCAA team crowns with legendary head coach Dan Gable. His senior campaign included a 36-0 record, and his combined prep and collegiate record was 217-12. Goldman won a gold medal at the 1987 Pan...

    USA Volleyball Brings Major International Showdown To Colorado Springs In August At Olympic Training Center
COLORADO SPRINGS-------USA Volleyball (USAV) will host the 2012 NORCECA Men’s Under-21 Continental Championship on Aug. 25-Sept. 2 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The matches, which will be played in Sports Center I, will be free and open to the public. The NORCECA (North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation) event, which is held biennially, will qualify at least two teams from the confederation for the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Men’s Junior World Championship. “We are pleased to be able to bring some of the best young men’s volleyball players in the world to our headquarters’ backyard in Colorado Springs,” USAV CEO Doug Beal said. “We encourage volleyball fans from around the region to come to Colorado Springs, attend this free event and see the future of international men’s...
