2020 SPORTS CORP MAJOR EVENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The Colorado Springs Sports Corporation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is seeking volunteers to help with upcoming events in the Colorado Springs area. See details below for each event and click the corresponding link to volunteer.

 4th of July Symphony On Your Porch

 July 4

Get ready for the largest 4th of July event with fireworks erupting across the Pikes Peak Region.  Enjoy the Colorado Springs Philharmonic’s annual patriotic concert broadcast from your favorite radio station – all from a front row seat when you volunteer at one of our locations!

Volunteer Roles: event operations, site monitor, etc.

Rocky Mountain State Games

July 17-19 & July 24-26

The Rocky Mountain State Games (RMSG) is Colorado’s largest multi-sport festival for athletes of all ages and athletic abilities including those with physical disabilities or visual impairment. More than 6,000 athletes are expected to participate in 20+ sports in the 2020 RMSG event and more than 300 volunteers are needed to successfully run this event. The 2020 Rocky Mountain State Games will be held primarily July 17-19 & 24-26 in Colorado Springs.

Volunteer/Officials Roles: The need for general volunteers varies by sport but may be needed for a variety of tasks including: athlete check-in, information booths, set-up/tear-down, course marshals, scoring, timing, hospitality and many other activities.

Specialized volunteers called “Operations Assistants” are needed to support each sport and provide on-site assistance to Sport Commissioners in addition to serving as the communications link with staff and operations

Operations Support Team (OST): work with The Sports Corp staff, Operations Team, Sport Commissioners and volunteers to prepare, assist and execute all events associated with RMSG. This experience will provide OST team members with a tremendous amount of field experience, networking opportunities, team exercises, sport knowledge and practical event management experience in a relatively short period of time.

The Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb

Saturday, August 8

The Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb features a competitive race sanctioned by USA Cycling and a Gran Fondo (fun ride) up the Pikes Peak Highway to the 14,115′ summit of Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain.

Volunteers Roles: aid station management, athlete check-in, information booths, set-up/tear-down, course marshals, scoring, timing, hospitality and many other activities.

Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off

Saturday, September 5 – Monday, September 7

We are pleased to announce that the annual tradition of a Hot Air Balloon Event on Labor Day weekend at Memorial Park here in Colorado Springs will continue for its 43rd year! More than 70 hot air balloons are expected to participate and 150,000+ spectators will come out to participate in balloon glows for the festival’s Saturday and Sunday evening schedules. Along with the balloons, a beer garden, food and product vendors and a kids bouncy village will accompany the hot air balloons at Memorial Park over Labor Day weekend.

The Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off is an event of Hot Apple Productions and the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.

Volunteer Roles & Shifts: assist with event operations including parking, VIP hospitality, beer garden, etc.

Saturday, September 5:
Morning shift: approx. 4:30-10:00 am
Evening shift: approx. 3:30-10:00 pm
Sunday, September 6:
Morning shift: approx. 4:30-10:00 am
Evening shift: approx. 3:30-10:00 pm
Monday, September 7:
Morning shift: approx. 4:30-10:00 am

Rocky Mountain State Games Figure Skating
September 11-13

This last event of the 2020 Rocky Mountain State Games will take place at the Monument Ice Rinks in Monument, CO.

Volunteer Roles: assist with judges and coaches hospitality, ice monitoring, announcing, music playing, registration/athlete check-in, set-up and tear-down, etc.

Specific times are TBD but typically, assistance is needed in 4-hour shifts between 6:00 am – 9:00 pm Thursday-Sunday

Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack

Saturday, September 19 & Sunday, September 20

Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack is a half-mile, side-by-side roll race and trap speed competition featuring hundreds of the fastest, most powerful street cars in the nation. The Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack is the only event in the country where participants have the opportunity to come together at a commercial airport the size and importance of the Colorado Springs Airport while competing for the title of the Mile High Victor.

Event Operations Volunteer Roles: set-up, admissions/ticket sales, beer garden, parking/staging, etc.

Saturday, June 20 – 5:00 am – 11:30 am; 7:00 am – 3:00 pm; 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Sunday, June 21 – 5:00 am – 11:30 am; 7:00 am – 3:00 pm; 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
