Competition Description:

Drone Soccer is a growing international team sport with rules governed by the World Air Sports Federation. U.S. Drone Soccer is convening youth competitions across the country, paving the road to the World Cup. The game is played with remote-controlled flying quadcopters protected by an exoskeleton cage. Teams face off in a full-contact aerial match and collide midair as they defend their goal and block for their designated ‘Striker’ to score. Games are played in a 10’ x 20’ netted arena with vertical hoops at either end that serve as goals, which keep score automatically when the Striker successfully passes through. Teams clash in three, three-minute periods and must quickly make repairs to keep flying.

The Rocky Mountain State Games is hosting the first statewide tournament for the growing robotic sport of drone soccer. U.S. Drone Soccer launched in Colorado with the first academic program adopted at Coronado High School in Colorado Springs. Presented in partnership with the Wings Over The Rockies Air and Space Museum, this educational sport introduces students to aerospace technology with thrilling team competition. U.S. Drone Soccer are introducing new academic and community leagues across the country, and are national representatives to the World Air Sports Federation.
