The Broadmoor Cycle to the Summit
The Broadmoor Cycle to the Summit is a premier road cycling challenge ascending Pikes Peak America’s Mountain. Sanctioned by USA Cycling, this competitive hill climb consists of a gran fondo, competitive, e-bike, and a Midway Challenge, giving cyclists of all skill levels the opportunity to take on this iconic 14’er.

Race Information
AWARDS
The awards ceremony will be held in the Festival Area at approximately 9:30 AM. Results must be posted for a minimum of 15 minutes in case of any disputes on finish times. Awards will be given out when all recipients are present and that 15 minute period has passed.
BRAKE CHECK
MANDATORY brake checks will be conducted at the Glen Cove gate by Pikes Peak Highway staff for all cyclists descending from the Summit and continuing down to the highway. WARNING: overheated rims can cause tire failure. You may want to deflate tires prior to your descent.
COMPETITIVE RACE INFO
All USAC rules apply. USAC waiver must be signed upon registering by all racers or parent/guardian for anyone 18 years or younger.
- Required License: A USAC license is required to compete in any of the Competitive race categories. To purchase a one-day license, please click here. You can also purchase on BikeReg. Make sure to bring the receipt to the race. Annual USAC licenses available online at usacycling.org.
COURSE
Cyclists will negotiate over 156 turns, for 12.5 mi/20 km, and climb over 4,700 ft. to the summit. The start line is located approximately 7 miles uphill from the Pikes Peak Highway Gateway, just past Crystal Reservoir.

Did you know?: This is the same course that The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill climb has been using for auto racing since 1916.
DIRECTIONS
5089 Pikes Peak Hwy, Cascade, CO 80809
Take I-25 to Downtown Colorado Springs. Exit I-25 at exit 141, to Highway 24 West. Follow Highway 24 West to Cascade, Colorado, approximately 10 miles. Follow the signs to Pikes Peak Highway and turn left at the Cascade traffic signal. Pikes Peak Highway will veer to your left in approximately a ½ mile.

- Ages 6-15 = $5 per person
- Ages 16 and older = $10 per person
Summit Timed-Entry Reservations & Admission Tickets: If you would like to drive to the Summit after the race and when the Mountain opens to the public (9:00 AM), you must purchase a timed-entry reservation ahead of time HERE. In addition to the timed-entry reservation, admission tickets must also be purchased. Pikes Peak — America’s Mountain Staff will check for your timed-entry reservation and admission ticket(s) at the Starting Line.

Gear BagS
Dop off your gear bag near the Festival Area and we will transport your gear bag to the Summit (or Glen Cove for Midway Challenge riders).
Transport vehicles will depart at 6:15 and 6:30 AM. Your bag MUST be tagged with your corresponding race number.
Things to pack: warm/dry clothing, wind gear, gloves, and extra pair of shoes to enter Summit Visitor Center. CLEATS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE SUMMIT VISITOR CENTER. To enter the Summit Visitor Center, you must wear a different pair of shoes.

Looking for an exhilarating ride without going all the way to the summit? This category lets you experience the thrill of climbing Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain while stopping at Glen Cove, halfway up the mountain – a ride of 5.16 miles.
This timed event is fully supported with aid stations along the course to keep you fueled and hydrated. Plus, all finishers will receive a Midway Challenge medal to celebrate their achievement!

SHUTTLE & Spectator shuttle
Cyclists Shuttle: There will be two shuttles onsite at the Summit. These shuttles will transport cyclists from the Summit to Glen Cove from 7:00 – 10:00 AM. The final departure from the Summit is at 10:00 AM. There is NO fee.
Spectator Shuttle Tickets: PPAM provides a paid shuttle for spectators to catch the cyclists crossing the finish line at the Summit! Pickup is near the Gear Bag vans and across from the Festival Area at Mile 7.
Departure Times: 6:00 AM from the Festival Area (after cyclists start) and approximately 8:45 AM from the Summit to reach the 9:30 AM awards ceremony.
Please note that the spectator shuttle does not guarantee that you will see your rider finish at the summit or return to the bottom. Riders finish at different times, and shuttle timing may not align. We want to ensure expectations are clear and avoid committing to something that cannot be guaranteed.

What is The Broadmoor Cycle to the Summit?
The Broadmoor Cycle to the Summit is a USA Cycling-sanctioned road race that challenges riders to ascend Pikes Peak America’s Mountain. This iconic event blends elite-level competition with amateur participation, offering one of the most scenic and grueling climbs in the U.S.
When and where does the event take place?
The 2026 race is scheduled for August 8, with the course beginning approximately 7 miles uphill from the Pikes Peak Highway Gateway, just past Crystal Reservoir and finishing at the 14,115-foot summit.
Who can participate in the event?
The race is open to licensed USA Cycling riders, recreational riders, and adaptive athletes. Participants must be in strong physical condition due to the extreme elevation gain and altitude. All riders must pre-register online.
What is the course like?
The route climbs approximately 4,725 feet over 12.42 miles of paved road with grades reaching 10.5%. Riders navigate over 150 curves on their way to the summit, passing through alpine forests and breathtaking panoramic views.
How do I register, and what does it cost?
Registration is available online at BikeReg.com. Entry fees vary based on category, and early registration is encouraged due to limited capacity.
What support is available during the race?
The course is supported by SAG vehicles, hydration stations, medical staff, and volunteer teams. All participants receive a gear drop service for warm clothing to be retrieved at the summit.
Can spectators attend the event?
Yes. Spectators are welcome and encouraged to cheer riders from the Start Line or on Pikes Peak — America’s Mountain Spectator Shuttle. This shuttle takes spectators to the Summit to watch riders cross the finish line and back to the Start Line for the awards ceremony.
Is the race timed, and are there prizes?
Yes. The event is chip-timed for all participants. Prizes and podium recognition are awarded to top finishers, including Competitive and Grand Fondo categories. There is not an award podium ceremony for the E-Bike category or the Midway Challenge. Rather, the E-Bike category and Midway Challenge will receive a completion medal.
