Each year in Q4, the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation publishes a comprehensive Annual Report highlighting the impact of its events and programs throughout the year. The report includes detailed data such as total athlete participation, volunteer engagement, estimated attendance, and advertising value equivalency (AVE) across all major events. This annual summary reflects our ongoing commitment to transparency and provides valuable insight into the economic, cultural, and community benefits generated through sports in the Pikes Peak region.

Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax (LART) Partnership Overview

The Colorado Springs Sports Corporation partners with the City of Colorado Springs on the Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax (LART) program in several key capacities.

About LART

The Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax is a municipal tax applied to lodging stays and automobile rentals within Colorado Springs. Revenue from this tax supports tourism initiatives and strengthens the local economy. The tax is established under City Code (1968 Code §3-210; Ord. 78-245; Ord. 01-42).

Tourism Sector Entities (TSEs)

Five designated Tourism Sector Entities (TSEs) contribute their expertise to develop industry-specific strategies, review funding applications, and provide recommendations with oversight from the LART Citizens’ Advisory Committee and City Administration. These TSEs include:

  • Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC
  • Visit Colorado Springs
  • Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region
  • Colorado Springs Sports Corporation
  • City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department

Colorado Springs Sports Corporation serves as the Sports and Community Events TSE, focusing on events that drive visitation, tourism, and community engagement.

LART Citizens’ Advisory Committee

The LART Citizens’ Advisory Committee is composed of community members appointed by City Council (1968 Code §3-219; Ord. 78-245; Ord. 01-42). The committee provides oversight to the TSEs, ensuring LART funds are administered responsibly and used to attract visitors, promote tourism, and enhance the economy of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region.

A member of the Sports Corp staff serves as an ex-officio member of the committee to provide subject-matter expertise in sports and event management.

LART Administrator

The LART Administrator manages the administrative functions supporting all Tourism Sector Entities, including contracting, awarding, and tracking of LART grants. This position is housed within the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation to assist the City with all administrative functions related to LART. The LART Administrator may also engage in other Sports Corp functions that support sports tourism or events.
