Following the Downtown Winter Fest celebration on February 5, the spirit and excitement continues throughout the following weeks as the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum will host the Beijing Winter Fest celebration, which runs the entirety of the Beijing Games, February 5 through March 13. John Register | Track & Field silver medalist in the 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games, two-time, two-sport Paralympic athlete (Swimming and Track & Field), two-time Olympic trails qualifier, combat Army veteran and amputee

Peggy Fleming | Figure Skating gold medalist in the 1968 Grenoble Olympic Games and 5 consecutive U.S. championships, 3 world titles from 1966-68, and Female Athlete of the Year by the Associated Press in 1968

Meet Peggy and get an autograph anytime between 3:30-4:00pm in the Museum Atrium!

Vonetta Flowers | Bobsled gold medalist in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games, two-time Olympian, and and first person of African descent (male or female) from any country to win a gold medal at a Winter Olympics!

Meet the Band

Soul School is a high energy, fun, & funky band with an extensive entertainment experience and vast repertoire of music – which includes Golden Oldies, Beach, Motown, Country, Jazz, Rock, Funk, Rhythm and Blues and Contemporary music. Join us in the plaza for live music from Soul School at 11:30am & 3:00pm. 

Cultural Performances

Christina Yeh Chinese Dance Studio | 2:00-2:30pm

Christina Yeh focuses on the art of Chinese dances as a performer, instructor, and choreographer. She interprets Chinese culture and traditions through various dance forms in individual and group performances. The studio will perform six traditional Chinese dances at the event.

Center for Aikido and Tang Soo Do Studios | 12:30-1:00pm

The Center for Aikido and Tang Soo Do Studies is a dojo/dojang offering traditional instruction in the martial arts of Aikido and Tang Soo Do to students from seven years of age and up. Performers will thrill Winter Fest attendees with a traditional Tai Chi sword demonstration.

Torch Relay

Take part by watching the Torch Relay through the plaza with Olympic & Paralympic athletes and community leaders starting at 4:00pm!

Enjoy the Museum

During the event there will be special free access to portions of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum where you can enjoy indoor sport and athlete demonstrations to celebrate the spirit of the Olympic & Paralympic Games! Extended paid tours available.

Learn to Skate

Lace up your skates and “Learn to Skate” with expert guidance from US Figure Skating Association staff and volunteers. Skaters can sign-up in advance or on-site for specific time slots. Skates will be provided. Special thanks to Apex Park and Recreation District for donating the synthetic ice!
