Military Support Program: 
The Military Support Program has been created to allow active duty and retired service members, their spouses and dependents to participate in the Rocky Mountain State Games with up to a 50% discount off the normal registration fees. General Guidelines:
Competitors must provide their own equipment (ammunition, and handgun or rifle). Safety glasses and hearing protection are required. Athletes are required to have their own firearm and will be permitted to shoot only one type of firearm per discipline. Required equipment: .22 LR Handgun, minimum of three magazines (five are recommended) and/or .22 LR Rifle, minimum of three magazines (five are recommended). Each shooter will need approximately 150 rounds of .22 ammunition per discipline. Only .22 caliber LR rifles and handguns are allowed in competition. Max speed for ammunition is 1,300 FPS. Overall medals will be awarded for 1st – 3rd place in each division. RMSG Commissioners reserve the right to combine, cancel or modify divisions or competition format at their discretion based on final registration. 
Competition Format:

Modified Rimfire Challenge Shooting Association (RCSA) Open Division rules ( will govern all events. Target distances: Rifle – 7-35 yards; Handgun – 7-20 yards.

The competition consists of four stages, five to seven rounds each. The competitor runs each stage three times and the slowest time is dropped.

RCSA rule modifications include: 

  • Handgun and rifle events will be run seperately. Athletes can register for one or both events but are not required to register for both. 
  • Competition format will consist of three strings of targets instead of five strings as outlined in the rules.
