Stages
Stage 1: Palmer Park
Back by popular demand, the Palmer Park Prologue will be on the same 11 mile course as in the past and be run as a time trial where each rider gets their own individual start. This “race against the clock” has riders starting around lunchtime in 30 second increments to allow each rider to have a clear path on the singletrack. How many riders can you catch in 11 miles?
Stage 2: Cañon City
TENTATIVE COURSE
Stage 3: Cheyenne Cañon
We continue the tradition and legacy of the APEX with a ride down Captain Jacks—arguably the most famous downhill trail in Colorado Springs. This stage will be the same course we had in 2024, including the popular start/finish area at the Penrose House. It’s only 20 miles, but you will have to earn that downhill with some tough climbs early in the ride.
Support at the APEX:
Our goal is to provide riders limited emergency mechanical support and the ability to refuel during the race, without having to carry all of their food and drink with them throughout the day.
Medical Support: Medical operations will be overseen by Orthopedic Centers of Colorado. We will have first aid personnel at each aid station and water station in addition to the start finish.
Tech Support: All riders should be self-reliant. There are remote areas on the courses where access to support will be difficult to provide.
We will have some level of tech support at all aid stations on all courses to help with emergency mechanical support.
Outside Support: Outside Support (food and water handups) will be limited to one location on Saturday—our longest day. Team and support staff should stay within these designated areas ONLY. This location is at the water station at the far west side of the course at mile 14.9, halfway through the stage.
Aid Stations: Aid stations will be located along the courses of Stages 2 and 3
- Stage 2: Mile 8.7, 19.6, and 24.3. Water only at mile 14.8
- Stage 3: Mile 4, 10.7, and water only at mile 15.9.
